Double page spread journal

I then added my picture of the artist on the left. I then used the magic wand tool to get rid of the background which would be there when the picture is taken. This then lets me have the just the image of the person without the background on my double page spread. This is also similar for other double page spread magazines which have the background deleted and they add their own background colour which in this case is white/black/grey. I then have images on the top and bottom of my writing to represent who Dj franz is as they are both drawings of Djs. I then have black boxes on the bottom using shape tool to have space to add more images to add more information about the artist.

This is the first stage of my double spread where I decided the colour of the background which would a mixture of black and white which gives the illusion of grey. I done this to show my artist has different sides such as being e.g innocent being white, while black is representing power and mystery. While grey is a mix of the both which my artist can portray. I used the gradient tool to show this effect and then edited with it to have the white appear more than black to show my artist represents more that colour than the colour black. Also the black is more grey so my artist only represents part of that colour representation.

I then added text to the double page spread. First discussing the background of the artist and how he got to this stage of his career for example what he got in school and his decisions after. I then discussed about him releasing his new single after having success with his previous one. I then discuss his future and where he plans to go next. Last I do an interview with Dj franz which I ask a few questions.

This is the final product which now has the image and extra features. The image of the artist is of him holding his tie which shows he is now higher up and serious about his music.

For the start of the double page spread I added the logo of the magazine to add consistency with the others which are the magazine front cover and and the contents. The logo is added at the top and bottom of the double page spread. I also added a title to the double page spread which links back to the front cover "I want to reach the top". I also followed codes and conventions by having the double page spread split into two so I can have the image on one side and the text on the other.

This is the finished product which now has images entered on the magazine which show other features in the magazine such as an interview with Calvin Harris or a image to represent the dance music chart. I also followed the conventions of having the text numbers bolder than the other text.

First I added the logo of the the magazine which is at the top of the magazine. This is to ensure consistency and it shows that this contents page is the same brand as the front cover. I also added page numbers which is a code and convention on a magazine contents page as it is a guide as to where features are in the magazine and without page numbers it would be confusing for the reader.

This is the finished product which I now added the main image of the artist with the main cover line. I also followed the codes and conventions of having the main cover line be tagged with the image of the artist and the text is much bolder and larger than the rest of the of the other cover lines on the magazine front cover. I Also have the quote from the double page spread itself so audiences instantly know what the magazine is referencing as soon as they turn to the double page spread.

I then added text and other features to the magazine front cover such as the cover lines on the side which mention what will be in the magazine. Also I followed the conventions of having the cover lines smaller so so when I add the main cover line it will stand out with the main image of the artist.
Also I have the barcode as this is similar with many magazines and it adds more professionalism. There is also links to social networking sites as this type of magazine is aiming at teenagers and young adults and this is the target that most use social networking sites.

On the first day I one the title of the magazine. I used dafont.com to help get a design as a template. This represents my type of magazine as it looks more modernized and suited to my music genre which is house music. Also I followed the codes and conventions of having a big bold masthead as it stands out.
